Coronavirus & Your Office

The novel coronavirus has been the talk of just about everyone in the world lately. Spread from person-to-person, transmission of the virus happens most frequently among close contacts (within about 6 feet) through breathing, coughing, and respiratory droplets.

With the coronavirus pandemic sweeping the globe, there are a number of proactive cleaning measures that your small business and office can enact in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Provide hand sanitizer and anti-bacterial wipes at printers, doors and entryways.

One of the most effective ways of neutralizing the spread of viruses and other bacteria is by using wipes and hand sanitizers to disinfect areas of common or shared use. This is especially true in small offices and for surfaces like doorknobs, kitchen appliances like microwaves and coffee machines, telephones, and copiers and printers. Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds.

Not all forms of hand washing were created equally. According to the Red Cross, in order to remove as many germs as possible and disinfect your hands as much as possible you should be scrubbing your paws for at least 20 seconds with soap and warm water.

Consider a plan for work from home and practice social distancing.

Of course the most effective way of preventing the spread of this virus is to create a system where employees are able to work remotely. If that isn’t possible, practicing social distancing and maintaining distances of 6 feet from the nearest person can also help limit the spread of the virus.

Have your office professionally cleaned.

If you have any employees who exhibit symptoms of COVID-19 or know of any employees who’ve come into direct contact with someone who’s tested positive you should have your office professionally cleaned and disinfected. There are a number of companies that provide such services in the New York / New Jersey area.
